ABA Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis built around one child at a time — their goals, their family, and the settings where those goals actually matter.
What ABA looks like at Look Up Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis is a structured, data-informed approach to teaching skills and reducing barriers to participation. Done well, it is not a script applied to a child. It is a plan built with a family, revisited as the child changes, and measured honestly enough that everyone can see whether it is working.
Our clinicians begin with an assessment, write goals with caregivers rather than for them, and coach the adults around the child so progress carries into ordinary days. If a strategy only works while a clinician is in the room, we have not finished teaching it.
Where ABA can take place
The right setting is a clinical decision made with your family, not a default. ABA may be delivered in any of these environments:
- The West Palm Beach center
- Family homes
- Schools, with caregiver consent and school agreement
- Daycares and early-learning programs
- Appropriate community settings that support a child's goals
Areas of focus
- Communication and functional requesting
- Social interaction and play with peers and siblings
- Daily living, routines, and independence
- Behavior that is interfering with learning or safety
- School readiness and participation
- Caregiver strategies that hold up on a hard day

Getting started
The path from first call to first session
ABA has more moving parts than most services because funding and authorization are usually involved. Here is what actually happens, in order.
Share your needs
A short inquiry through the secure form or a phone call is enough to begin.
Connect with intake
We confirm location, service fit, and what documentation exists already.
Verify documents and funding
Diagnostic records and benefits are reviewed. This is the step that most often sets the timeline.
Complete the assessment
A clinician observes, interviews caregivers, and gathers the baseline the plan depends on.
Build the care plan
Goals, hours, setting, and how progress will be measured are agreed with your family.
Coordinate the service start
Scheduling is confirmed, including any school or daycare coordination.
ABA questions families ask
Where can ABA take place?
In Florida, ABA is available center-based in West Palm Beach for children ages 2 through 6, with community options depending on the service and current availability. In North Carolina, ABA is delivered in family homes, in partnering schools, in daycare and early-learning programs, and in appropriate community settings. The right setting is a clinical decision made with the family, not a default.
What ages do you serve?
Our Florida center-based ABA program serves children ages 2 through 6. Ages served for other services and settings vary by clinician, program, and funding source, so please contact the intake team to confirm whether we can serve your child rather than relying on a general age range.
Is ABA covered by insurance?
ABA is frequently a covered benefit, but coverage depends on your specific plan, your state, the diagnosis on record, and the authorization your plan requires. We verify benefits with you during onboarding and explain in plain language what your plan indicates before services begin. We do not promise coverage on a website — we confirm it with your plan.
Is a diagnosis required?
It depends on the service and how it is funded. Insurance-funded ABA typically requires a qualifying diagnosis from an appropriate evaluating provider, because the funder requires it. Private-pay occupational therapy and private-pay mental health counseling have different requirements. If your child has not been evaluated yet, tell us — we can talk through what a reasonable next step looks like.
What happens during an assessment?
An assessment is how a clinician learns who your child actually is before anyone writes a plan. Depending on the service, it can include a caregiver interview, direct observation, standardized or criterion-referenced measures, a review of prior records, and discussion of the routines and settings where you want to see change. The result is a care plan with goals your family recognizes as relevant, along with how progress will be measured and reviewed.
Can services occur at school or daycare?
Often, yes. School-based and daycare-based ABA requires written caregiver consent and the agreement of the school or program, and we coordinate scope, scheduling, and communication before any session takes place. The goal is to complement what the school team is already doing rather than run a parallel, competing plan.
How are caregivers included?
Caregivers are part of the clinical team, not an audience for it. That means participating in goal setting, receiving coaching on strategies that carry over into everyday routines, getting plain-language updates on progress, and being able to raise concerns and have them addressed. Skills that only work when a clinician is in the room have not really been taught yet.
