Privacy Policy

How this website handles information, what it does not collect, and how to send anything sensitive safely.

Review required before launch. This page provides accurate baseline language describing how the website behaves. It is not a substitute for a HIPAA-compliant Notice of Privacy Practices or legal review. Have counsel review and finalize this content before the site goes live.

What this website collects

This website is built to collect as little as possible. It does not run advertising pixels, session recording, call recording, or behavioral tracking by default. Standard web server logs may record technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, which is used to keep the site secure and functioning.

The Look Up Concierge

The concierge on this site is a guided menu of links. It has no free-text field, it does not send messages to our team, and it does not store anything you click. It is not live chat and nobody is monitoring it in real time.

Protected health information

Please do not send diagnoses, evaluations, treatment records, or other protected health information through ordinary email or through any form on this website. Health information should be submitted through our secure intake form, which is hosted on a separate protected platform, or by another protected method our team can arrange with you.

Information you submit through the secure intake platform is governed by that platform's protections and by our clinical privacy practices, not by this website.

Cookies and your choice

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses two kinds, and you control the second.

Strictly necessary cookies. These make the website work and cannot be switched off. They include the cookies WordPress requires to keep an administrator signed in, and one first-party cookie that remembers your answer to the cookie question so we do not ask again on every page. That cookie stores a single word — accepted or declined — and nothing about you. It lasts six months.

Optional analytics cookies. These tell us which pages families find useful so we can improve them. They are only ever loaded if you answer yes to the cookie banner. If you answer no, or if you never answer, they are not loaded at all — not deferred, not anonymised and loaded anyway, simply never requested. Where analytics are in use, IP addresses are anonymised.

We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run cross-site tracking, and we do not sell or share personal information for advertising purposes.

Changing your mind. Select "Cookie choices" in the footer of any page to change your answer at any time. Withdrawing permission is exactly as easy as giving it.

Browser privacy signals. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as a no automatically and you will not be asked.

Children's privacy

This website is written for parents, caregivers, and professionals, not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 through this website. If you believe a child has provided information here, contact us and we will delete it.

Clinical information about a child is collected through our secure intake system by a caregiver with authority to provide it, and is governed by our clinical privacy practices rather than by this website policy.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask for a copy, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, contact us using the details on this page. We will not treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.

Third-party links

Some links, including our secure intake form, lead to platforms operated by other organizations. Their privacy practices govern what happens on their sites.

Children's information

This website is intended for adults seeking information about services. We do not knowingly collect information from children through this website.

Who we are

Suggested text: Our website address is: https://lookuptherapy.com.

Comments

Suggested text: When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

Suggested text: If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

Suggested text: If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Suggested text: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

Suggested text: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

Suggested text: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

Suggested text: If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Suggested text: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
